The Optimist Creed
Promise yourself...

To be so strong that nothing can disturb your piece of mind.
To talk health, happiness and prosperity to every person you meet.
To make all your friends feel that there is something in them.
To look at the sunny side of everything and make your optimism come true.
To think only of the best, to work only for the best and to expect only the best.
To forget the mistakes of the past and press on to the greater achievements of the future.
To wear a cheerful countenance at all times and greet every living creature you meet a smile.
To give so much time to the improvement of yourself that you have no time to criticize others.
To be too large for worry, too noble for anger, too strong for fear, and too happy to permit the presence of trouble.

Youthworks Donation

Recently the Optimist Club BOD approved $300 to be used for a need that Youthworks has. They requested items to furnish kitchens in apartments they have available for 18-22 year-olds who might be transitioning from foster care, for example. Tuesday, May 18, Emily Yanish from Youthworks spoke at our noon meeting and was presented one of three kitchen sets purchased by the Backpack committee, who took on this project.
Bismarck Optimist Essay Contest
Our Bismarck Optimist Club was proud to once again sponsor the Optimist International Essay Contest at the local club level. The winning essay writer at our local club level is awarded $500 and the district level winner receives $2500. The topic for this year's contest was "Can Society Function Without Respect?"

Congrats to Taylor Adamski from Mandan High School on being selected as our Club's 2021 Youth Essay Contest Winner!

2021 Impact Grant
We had the honor of presenting the 2021 Optimist Impact Grant in the amount of $5,000 to the Abused Adult Resource Center to use for two recreation areas at their shelters. This project plays an important part in helping children feel safe and positive during a tough time.

AARC provides crisis support and shelter for survivors of abuse and their children in a seven-county area surrounding Bismarck-Mandan. Ultimately, AARC provides hope to those surviving abuse in their lives.

Now in its 4th year, the Optimist Impact Grant awards up to $5,000 each year for a project or initiative that makes a direct or lasting impact on the youth of Bismarck-Mandan.2021 Impact Grant Application
